Not all beers are created equal.

Or maybe they are?

As a non-beer drinker, after visiting the Heineken Experience I have a new appreciation for it's flavor and carbonation controlling foam.

But seriously? This was one of my favorite "museums" in Amsterdam. Totally touristy. Totally worth it.

To Fall in Love

I am a romantic. A hopeless romantic.

I have daydreams of a "white knight" and grand gestures that rival an ABC Family movie or Nicolas Spark books. But growing up, with all of the romance I hoped for, I never dreamed of marriage. I didn't plan a wedding like many little girls and as I grew older I often said, "I am not sure it is in my future."

I did hope to fall in love though.

Traditions and Dreams

I went to Salt Lake City last weekend to celebrate my sister’s baby shower with our Utah family, and it was so nice to be in the mountains again.

I couldn’t help but snap a photo as the plane made its descent over the glowing city lights. The phrase, “This is the place,” popped into my head—what Brigham Young is said to have remarked when he led the pioneers into the land surrounding the Great Salt Lake. With its geography encompassing the beauty of both mountain and desert, I can’t say that I blame him.

An Ode to Brouwer’s

Beer Heaven

Recent weather has been unusually warm in Seattle and I decided to take advantage this past weekend by riding my bike to my favorite beer spot –Brouwer’s Café, located in the heart of Fremont.  Brouwer’s is an authentic Belgian pub that has more than 50 hard-to-find beers on tap, another 50+ beers in bottle and dozens of different whiskey options, all complemented by a small but delicious menu (including a killer lamb burger).

I went on a blind date the other day.

I've only recently started dating again and even with this I was dreading going. My family and friends had to verbally drag me through the door as I clawed to escape. Dramatic? Yes, but accurate.

Lemon Cheesecake Squares

My mom has been making these bars for years, but before she found this recipe she would always make lemon bars once a year during Seafair. I thought those were my favorite, I would always wait around while she was cutting them up so I could steal some of the scraps. Now we have moved to the cheesecake bars, she makes them more often then once year because once you try them you will know, you just can't wait a whole year to have them again.

If you need a dessert and don't have a lot of time you can prepare this up to two days before you actually eat it. This is probably one of my absolutely favorite things. 

April Family Dinner

Family dinner is easily my favorite night of the month... it even tops Dessert for Dinner! This month especially may have been my favorite yet because of the delicious (and EASY) food and the amazing group that joined.
